Croydon - Guildford Weekly Season

A work college commutes from Croydon to Guildford. He has had weekly seasons from East Croydon valid via Redhill and another from West Croydon via Sutton, the latter being cheaper than the former. He was telling me he would like to travel via Clapham Jct but was advised the booking office would only issue one via Waterloo or London. I suspect there must be a "not via London" option for this route. Can anyone please advise what the routing conditions would be and a price if possible please so I can pass this on to him.

NOT CLAPHAM JN @ £55.60 7 Day Season

or

REDHILL @ £65.60 7 Day Season

Route +Any Permitted and Not London are only available when buying normal returns or singles.

Perhaps a season ticket Clapham Jn - Guildford should be considered. This costs £63 weekly Standard or £107.10 First Class.

It is route Any Permitted. The National Routeing Guide tells us that this can be used via Woking, Oxshott, Stoneleigh, St Helier, Mitcham Jn or Croydon Stations. It can therefore be used as a season ticket between Croydon and Guildford via Clapham Jn.

It is not valid via Redhill.

This seems a good suggestion. East Croydon is actually off route, since you may not go via Redhill, but the relaxation for group stations in the routeing guide will allow you nonetheless to use your ticket there.

I suspect that, if you asked, you would be told that a season from Guildford to Croydon would be a Travelcard for zones 2-6, the point-to-point fare via Clapham J being more (were they actually to calculate it). The suggestion from the booking office that they can only issue via London is just plain wrong.
