Crowdfunding Fundraising

Has anyone ever had any experience of Crowdfunding?

I am involved with a local senior citizens day centre. Every Christmas Day we take it over and provide lunch & entertainment for around 70-75 guests who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.
We do get a number of donations from members of the local Church Congregations and businesses, of food, drinks, presents, tombola prizes etc., but we do need some cash too, to pay for a number of other items items, such as insurance for the day, publicity, topping up food, presents etc where we don't quite have enough from the donated items. I have heard that Crowdfunding may be a possibility.? Tks.

Crowdfunding is usually a facility to raise money through "pledges" in exchange for something.

I've helped crowdfund a handful of things and always received the product at the end of it. Some were overpriced, others are pretty good value. Never really seen the product for sale any where so when it says "save $50 against RRP" - I always ignore that.

If it's just getting people to donate, there's no "crowdfunding" in it, that's just fundraising.

If you used one of these companys then they will take a cut from the money raised - possibly easier to do it through paypal gifting.
