Crossrail up the WCML?

What happened to the proposals of running Crossrail services up the WCML to Tring? Did plans just dissolve or was there a reason as to why they aren't running up to Tring?

I would've thought the idea of freeing space at Euston and providing more choice to those in Tring, Hemel, and Watford by allowing Tring stoppers to be transferred to Crossrail would be beneficial.

Died a death a good while ago, TfL didnt really want to pay for it, it didnt actually help in terms of HS2 construction (one of the things it was banking on) and it would have messed the slows right up with 6tph.

It'd also have split the service between Euston and another station, which would be a nuisance for us WCML users having to work out which station to go to rather than just rocking up to Euston. Thameslink is different because both it and EMR serve the same station.

I don't recall hearing of anyone up this way that supported it.
