Has anything been said about how the new crossrail platforms at existing stations will be numbered. I.E. whether they will be an extension of the existing numbering? a seperate numbering sequence? or not use numbers at all (for example using letters like at St Pancras)?

Eastbound platforms are A. Abbey Wood, Ealing Broadway, etc are still NR stations so the platform is 4.

Paddington is confused. It is A/B in documentation I have seen, but C/D (I think) on signs by the lifts.
Possibly confusing because both tracks will be bi-directionally signalled.
Does paddington have a platform A/B for something else?
A related question, do we know if the crossrail stations will be regarded as seperate stations in public timetables or whether the crossrail-specific statoin codes are internal only? In the former case it seems like it would discourage journey planners from using crossrail.

Paddington is A and B on our diagrams so perhaps the signs by the lifts may need updating.

Are they just lift identities? I assume there’s probably separate lifts from road and station levels to concourse, and concourse to platforms, either side of the gateline?

The platforms are going to be A and B as everyone knows. A in the direction of Shenfield/Abbey Wood and B in the direction of Paddington/Heathrow/Reading. Nothing new there! However in terms of operationality (eg staff/signallers/admin/engineering etc) the A's are actually designated Platform 1 and the B's Platform 2.
