Crossrail Interchange - why?

I'm sure one of you here can find it far faster than I can.

There must be a document somewhere explaining why it was felt necessary to have a Crossrail interchange (and the use of Old Oak Common as such has been a major driver of the route, including the difficulties with the HS2-HS1 link, the routing through the Chilterns, etc)

But I can never find anything in the maze of documentation between the HS2 and DfT websites, so if someone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

The reasoning is Euston has limitwd underground and connevtion abilities within Londob ao interchanging with Crossrail gives a link to banking, canary wharf and heathrow to name a few with only one change. Also old oak common is seen as a regeneration oppurtunity.

Yes the idea is simply one station alone could not disperse all the passengers using the line onto other public transport to their final destination, so it needs two.

As well as dispersing some of the traffic that would otherwise use the tube at Euston, it also provides access to the Thames Valley and Heathrow pending the construction of a HS2 branch.
