I have just had an e-mail from Network Rail that I have been invited to an interview.

I was wanted ask what type of questions do they ask? Are they complicated to answer? Has anyone had an experience to what goes on and did they enjoy the role?

I am surprised you have applied for a job and know nothing about the role?

The name is pretty self explanatory

The questions are pretty easy, one is a bit "rulesy", but still straight forward/common sense.

As I have the same interview, probably not best to give too much away

Maybe I'm feeling generous as it's such a cracking day, but I'm not sure that the OP knows nothing about the job! It seems fair to do a bit of research about the realities and practicalities of the job - the sort of thing that's quite different to the roles and responsibilities. That depends a lot on the actual location though - the role of crossing keeper varies heavily between locations.

Crossings and their operations vary from area to area but as a general rule of thumb you will need to like your own company as its not uncommon to not talk to another soul for the duration of your shift.

You will also need to develp thick skin to take into account (some) thick motorists.

When I did it I enjoyed it and Im sure you will do too, just remember that if its a manual crossing with wooden gates, they generally have a shelf life and won't be around forever.

The place in question is a relief role for 3 (I think, I spoke to the LOM and asked him, as I have interviewed with him before).

It is a FTC until November, which is when the boxes shut, and move to Three Bridges ROC. OFC, that means there is a rather big chance the successful applicant is unemployed at the end. Fun and games!

Yeah I know what the job is now. Didn't understand why I asked the question of what the job involves. I was meant to ask what were the shift hours?

Brilliant news, over the moon! I was a bit vague with my other post, in respect to the other applicants who may or may not of heard yet, but it seems they have!

So yes, pending a medical and references.

Fourth attempt (well, interview lol) at signaller vacancies. The thing is, I was "meant" to get the very first role I interviewed for, (same LOM as the one I got), but due to a problem with the signalling school the amount of vacancies was sliced!
