Crosscountry weekend first

Quick question.

Travelling between Bristol and Cheltenham tomorrow. Is the weekend first £5 per journey?

Can't seem to find the information on their website.

Only if not reserved at the time the ticket was purchased. Personal experience however is never having been charged this fee when booking a seat after I've already purchased a ticket. Even telesales have waived the fee for me on two occasions.

I can honestly say I've never been charged either, and I make seat reservations on a practically daily basis!

The train managers announcement yesterday was quite clear that only Offpeak and Anytime ticket holders could upgrade and Advance tickets would cost 'considerably more'.

Are you eligible for Weekend First if you hold a Rover or Ranger ticket?

Also, how do the price bandings work? Seems hardly any journeys are £5 and most are £15. For some routes the upgrade fee is more than the cost of a First Advance. Between Totnes and Taunton for example the FGW Weekend First price is half the price of the XC Weekend First despite the FGW product being superior.

A silly policy given the state of XC's Sunday morning trains. Hundreds in Standard Class (with people standing in the aisles), two in First Class, seems to happen all too often.

The £5 on xc is for shorter journeys where as the £15 is for longer distance fares.
