New St - Leeds, Manchester, Reading, Bristol, Plymouth. Plus all the diversions !

HST and Voyagers.

Do the Voyager links cross cover the Turbo link ?

What about the 170 routes ? Nottingham to Cardiff and Birmingham to Stanstead Airport are the XC Turbo routes

Include Leicester in there to., I don't know if New St Turbo crew go all the way to the Airport, I think it might be Cambidge at a push if at all. Baring in mind theirs a depot at Cambridge that only sign the Aiport to New St.

Also legacy from Central days Turbo guards are in trained pay for 12 months, where as voyage guards go to full pay on pass out so roughly 4-5 months. But Turbo guards have better T&Cs hence the lower wage.

Voyager TMs and 170 Senior conductors are totally separate. Even have different Ts and Cs and pay.
170 SCs do go to Stansted
Voyager TMs also go to Bournemouth and Newcastle

Who works the XC services between Birmingham and Manchester when 170s substitute for Voyagers which does happen on occasions ?

Apart from the booked voyager move via Bristol each morning and night to Cardiff which is worked by a TM I believe.

Well yes because that is booked a Voyager. I am talking about short notice substitutions

I have no idea what the cross cover arrangement is with XC but certainly there was a Voyager out on Leicester to Brums on Sunday due to a conductor shortage so presumably they just went under their own steam without a conductor as they have the route knowledge.

That would cause serious industrial relations issues at my TOC as train managers can't cover for conductors and vice versa.

So this job is now in the sifting phase - any clues how long this takes. By reading lots of posts on this forum there seems to be literally hundreds of applications for each post so i'm figuring a good few weeks?

You're quite right but irritatingly XC have no jobs alert function on their site like so many others do so you literally have to check every day and I already work so sometimes find myself on here first for other reasons that's all..you also get advance notice on here from those in the know!

My first attempt at an appointment with a train operator has been unsuccesful. Just received confirmation I was not one of the ones that were short listed for this Train manager job. Gutted - but onwards on upwards.

Yes they do. I get emailed when new jobs are posted to their website.
