Just having a quick browse on the system-which-must-not-be-named and noticed that all CrossCountry Reading - Birmingham (and beyond) services were calling at Solihull today! First time in a while for XC, anyone know the reasoning behind this as they are back to normal (non stop from Leamington Spa to Birmingham New Street) next weekend. Interesting as there is no mention anywhere on the CrossCountry network of Solihull ever being "regularily" served.

I remember back in the days of VXC, if the Coventry line was closed, Bournemouth services stopped at Solihull but Reading services didn't. However in recent engineering works, CrossCountry appear to have not stopped either at Solihull - they have however continued practice of running to Didcot Parkway in engineering works though. :)

Yeah they do engineering works every so often and International's shut alot on Saturday with busses so they send XC via Solihull with connections to the airport.

Last few times I've noticed International shut, XC did not call at Solihull.

Anyway, International was open last Saturday!

They don't all the time, sometimes they do during frequent engineering works.

The station might be open but the line might not be. Just have a look on the engineering works it'll usually tell you.

Failing that, ask Tom Cairns he is said to have TRUST.

Not missing much, Stations a mission from the Centre and it's easy to get off at New St and get the train or bus down.

Bus?! You've got to be joking... ;)

And it didn't take me any longer than 5 minutes to walk to the "town" centre.

I'm not bothered about actually getting off there, I was just a bit annoyed cos I missed the oppurtunity to record the Oxford woman doing "SOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYHULL!".
