Something I've noticed over the last week or so is that the hourly Crosscountry arrives into Bournemouth on Platform 3 then stays there until the return journey, meaning that other services (both up and down) are all going through Platform 2 while the XC unit is there. The up semi-fast SWR during that time is timetabled to leave only three minutes before the down arrives. Previously, the XC would shunt into the middle sidings for the ~25 minute layover but these movements (at least on RTT) aren't showing except for arrivals/departures after about 5pm.

Have they just decided it's not worth the extra effort to get the train out of the way? It does seem like the three minutes between services in different directions on P2 is somewhat tight. Just curious if there's a reason they're doing it this way now.

On OTT they're showing as cancelled at the TOC's request. Could it be something to do with the sidings themselves, perhaps?

That was my first thought. The SWR services that split at Bournemouth aren't going there either.

Interestingly, at the station, the departure boards show the XC leaving from Platform 2 until about 5 minutes before it leaves, but occasionally display a message "The xx45 Cross-country service will depart from platform 3"

Bournemouth Middle Sidings are under engineers’ possession for work every day Monday to Friday this week at least from 0800 to 1700, hence trains not using them during these times.

Has the sink hole in #2 road at Poole Stabling Sdgs now been repaired, as Open Train Times are now showing that road as being used, with #1 sdg (nearest the mainline) being out of use?

‘Road 2’ (properly known as the Shunt Neck) is now available as a dead end road holding a maximum train length of 5 coaches at the London end only.

‘Road 1’ (officially the Reception Road) is currently out of use due to defective conductor rail pots.
