A man who verbally threatened a CrossCountry train manager has been jailed for eight weeks. On 19 February Jahmile Jeffers threatened the train manager on board our 1205 Edinburgh to Taunton service after giving false address details. On arrival at Birmingham New Street the man was arrested by British Transport Police and later pleaded guilty to causing fear or provocation of violence in Court on 4 April.

Fantastic use of social networking by XC there...

Somehow I don't think the Jahmile Jeffers of this world are going to 'fan' CrossCountry on Facebook.

Maybe putting that information on posters at stations is more likely to get the message across (though the ability to read might be asking too much from certain people).

I disagree, I believe it's a good use of a medium to advertise the fact that actions like this won't be tolerated although I would also use Twitter and Posters to advertise this.

Well done Cross Country!

I agree with ajax103. You might not appreciate it but they are good at Facebook and it is good to see that they take action against pricks and fare dodgers.

I suspect the cost of maintaining their Facebook account is negligible compared to their other costs so pretty much anything gained is a bonus and a lot of people will check facebook for offers (did the 25% off get mentioned on facebook?) so it'll be seen.

Posters at stations will be much better for the occasional traveller and the random person who happens to be passing through
