CrossCountry Delay Repay

Had a £45.40 open return ticket last month for a journey with CrossCountry / Northern which due to a cancelled CrossCountry train delayed me by around 50 minutes on the way back so did a delay repay.

Just got a response back to say they are refunding me £11.35

Delays of 30-59 minutes
50% of the cost of your single ticket or 50% of the cost of either portion of your return ticket

I can see where they're coming from, but since both portions of the return ticket state the same £47 price are they short changing me and should I be claiming for £22.70? I'm sure in the past various TOCs have indeed just refunded me an actual 50% of the cost of the return rather than 25% but maybe I'm going slightly mad!

In my experience:

• 30-59 minutes = 25%
• 60-119 minutes = 50%
• >120 minutes = 100%

How much did you actually pay?

If you paid just under £50 for the return journey then around £12 is correct.

Sounds like they have it correct then, only took them a month to get their calculator out!

This is the correct amount of compensation.

A return ticket always has the same price printed on both portions of the ticket.

When did you make the claim? I made a claim to cross country delay repay a month ago on the 9th of December and I'm still waiting for a reply from them.

About the same time, so I wouldn’t worry too much, I just got the automated confirmation then nothing until the refund (which still hasn’t hit my bank almost a week later anyway!)
