It's the same with many jobs mate. Look at last year's recruitment thread to see how many were left with no answer at all.
Then there's always the chance that we get through to the next stage but fail the DMI, or the Psychometrics. It's exciting, but we all know it's a job with only a very small chance of success when it comes to applying due to the demand. Worrying about it won't change anything, we just chill out and wait.
For my current job (non-railway) I applied in the December, had an interview fairly quickly, then heard nothing untill the August with a start date of November.

It’s DMI first then Psychometrics if you’re successful at DMI
Had my DMI last week for Plymouth depot. Felt like it went quite well but I’m reading nothing into outcome. Interviewers gave nothing away so I have no idea the outcome
Interviewers were super professional and made me feel very welcome. Plenty of time to give full and proper responses to questions
Psychometrics are underway this week, but I’m sitting them out as already passed. I’m hopeful of finding out later this week / next week

Yeah, I am probably going to give it another week or two then just assume I haven't been successful, especially if peoples profiles are being updated as they progress.
Out of interest was your interview via Teams/Zoom or was it in-person?

Just been invited to a face to face interview for this, to confirm does anyone know will it be a DMI format interview (whatever that is)?

Congratulations!! I think it's a DMI as the MM interview is carried out during the psychometrics usually, not by the TOC. Did they call you or email? Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. They phoned me to arrange interview and had various days so guessing they’re inviting a lot of candidates to interview. Will search this forum for more info on DMIs but guessing it’s mostly standard Railway style scenario based questions? Nervous now! not getting my hopes up tho fully aware of how many hurdles need to be jumped!

I imagine the next few days is going to be basically make or break. It may take them a few days to arrange interviews for all the candidates they will want.

I wonder if it is, or do you get another chance. Suppose three drivers handed in their notice next month would you be reconsidered ?
Wondering if the current dispute will influence the decisions of some of the more senior drivers

Not particularly relevant but I'm just generally interested, what jobs/careers are people currently doing prior to applying for train driving? This industry seems to attract a good mix so just wondering.

Previously mechanical tech on Gas/steam turbines, power stations and travelling 100% 10-13 hours a day, then decided to do property development as a change doing 80% myself but found it somewhat boring not my jam, more so enjoyed the designing of the bathroom & kitchen. really just looking be happy in a job, something that has purpose and my attention, not having to take work home in the mind aspect.
