Hi, I’ve got my spatial reasoning and behaviour test to complete by the 16th March for Leicester depot. What does the behaviour test consist of? Thank you.
Just multiple choice questions and choose the relevant one. Nothing crazy

For people who’ve done their DMI.

How long until you heard anything? I did mine just over a week ago and haven’t heard anything yet. I’d heard informally that this part went quicker than the previous lengthy waiting period but not sure what to expect.

Anyone have any insight?

I did my DMI in March 2024 and XC called me 6 days later to tell me I'd passed.

I'm still in the talent pool for Bristol. Our recruitment drive did DMI first then psychometrics. Hopefully you hear something soon.

Don't think it's possible to put a number on it but there are unallocated courses for August and maybe October, I hear. I don't think it'll get to 5 years, in my opinion. There's the 2025 recruitment drive happening behind so unless XC have binned me and not told me I remain hopeful for sometime this year.

Yes, I have since applied for another company and in their talent pool as well.

When you applied for the other company am I correct you only had to do the dmi for that company and was it alot easier having your psychometrics Allready to get ahead of the process and into the talent pool thank you in advance

Yes, that's right.
I had to get through initial sift testing but then when they check psychometrics history with my NI number, they see I've got passes and it was straight to DMI so much faster.
I would still like to work for XC though. It's just sensible to widen the net to get into the industry.

Thanks - nothing yet!

I only applied last May, so it's nothing compared to you, but I already get that this process forces you to be patient.

I believe if you still really want the job after years if waiting patiently then that can only be a good thing. Maybe its another "assesment" by them haha

Ultimately it's based on which depot needs what and when. I think someone for Bournemouth applied in May 25 and has a March 26 start date. Right place, right time! I guess the Bournemouth pool was empty especially if people start with other companies.

Timmy - I believe you're a Plymouth applicant. Plymouth took 3 or 4 new trainees across the Jan and March 26 courses, so the 2023/24 pool is emptying. I know at least one still in the pool.

Birmingham is the heart of it and they took a fair few on courses through 2025. Bristol trained 3 in 2025 and 2 so far in 2026. It is a slow burn but, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

I'm still on pending for Newcastle. I'm assuming they might hold some applicants at this stage for when they next get testing dates, or to save time for future recruitment drives (though I could be very wrong.)

Evening all, don’t suppose anyone has heard anything about when the shl online tests will be sent out for the February applicants? The initial email at the beginning of the month said 3-4 weeks so I’m guessing anytime now but thought I’d ask nonetheless.

I’m in for the Cambridge depot.

Cheers.

Not sure if the same but I applied for leicester in Feb, received the online sift and had a deadline of the 16th of March to complete. Have you got an account with the site? May be worth checking your status

Thanks for the reply.

Just checked the crosscountry recruitment portal and still shows as under review. Last email I got from them just listed the application process steps, along with asking me to fill out a form before the 1st of March.

Guess it’s just a waiting game!

I suppose different depots so different needs and timings. Yeah just a waiting game. This time round I've learnt to forget about it until I actually receive communication

Yes, I got the same for Cambridge today too. Haven't got time to do it until tomorrow afternoon though. Fingers crossed for all doing the tests.

Hey how was your test? Was it very tough and do they provide you any practice material before ahead or not?

They do provide practice questions. I found the spatial reasoning tricky. The other assessment questions are just giving honest answers. Not sure how long they take to let you know, I'll have a search on here. Good luck!

Hi there what type of exam questions where presented, especially for the spatial awareness? Was it nets rotations reflections? And also was the job focused quite straight forward too?

Got mine too wanted to revise before I do it but I’ve seen other forums where people have completed closer to deadline but had their application closed.
