Does anyone who has recently done their DMI remember what questions they were asked. Looking to see if they have changed in the last two years.

I've completed the SHL before. With the questionnaire it states they will only use one SHL results. Im not sure why I was rejected last time but im.now worried it was due to the SHL.. I wasnt informed of why and they never got back to me when I asked for feed back

Hi KSC,

No, I am a candidate from the 2023 round of applications. I completed my psychometrics in August 2024 with the RCG in Manchester.
Did you interview originally in early 2024 as well? Or is this the original DMI for you?

Hope it went well yesterday

Hi,

I originally did my DMI in early 2024.

Thanks, feel like it went okay, but I am always super critical of myself afterwards. So only time will tell.

Heya Guys ,
I received a mail from crosscountry to complete a questionnaire. And I will receive a mail to complete online assessment of SHL. Where will I get the practice material online. Any help will be appreciated.
Assessment 1- Apprentice Job focused assessment.
Assessment 2- Verify Spatial ability test.

Can you share your experience on both assessments.
Thank You.

Google spatial awareness tests, there are a few sites that will give you a free practice test similar to the shl ones

Thank you for that information. What to expect for Job Focused assessment. I am wondering if it will be something related to our past experience scenario???? Any guidance is highly appreciated.

It's a bit like a situational judgement test, various scenarios with multiple choice answers, some of which might not have any option that aligns with your thoughts, I found it a bit of a strange one to be honest

One assesment is just picking the most applicable answer so no need to practise

The other is spatial reasoning. There's some practise bits online and some tips on youtube

Hi all I failed the psychometric today on the 2 hand co ordination it’s not that I found it difficult but I didn’t realise it was timed so I chose the latter and went for accuracy however if I had known there was a time limit I would have been able to move a lot faster easily. Any advice …?
I passed all of the others I would have passed this also had I realised there was a time element can I dispute and try and get redo as I genuinely went for accuracy over speed I have put a lot of time and effort into the training prior and am just so gutted it was such a way to fail when I could have passed so easily.
No disrespect but there's absolutely no chance you will be able to get a "redo". I say this because they state time and time again that you need to listen and follow the instructions, if there is anything you are unsure about you need to ask. They would have stated to you and the other people who attended that it was a timed assessment focusing on speed and accuracy.

Sorry that this may not be what you want to hear but I'm just being truthful. You will have to wait until you are next eligible to take the tests again... However that being said, if you passed everything else up to that point you will not need to take any of the other assessments again other than this and the MMI (depending on the Toc/Foc you apply for).

I will go back for sure I have revised and learnt about the role of a train driver and put a lot of effort Into this something I really want. If somebody fails a dmi that does not count as the psychometric am I right

You will be allowed to resit this portion of the test in 6 months. Failing the DMI is not part of the pyschometrics. The DMI is where you sell yourself to the company that you are the right candidate. The pyschometrics prove you have the ability to do the job.

I failed the MMI and was allowed to resit after 6 months, I remained in the talent pool as I had already been advised that there were no placements for my depot in that time period.

Depends on when you first sat. If you sat anything before December 2024 it's 6 months, 2 attempts. After then it's 1 year, 3 attempts.

Anyone here do thier physcometrics at Birmingham recently?

My brother was one of the first to sit them a few weeks back at the end of January, he was told he had passed on the day by the OPC.

He is just waiting for Crosscountry to get intouch now but he has heard nothing back.

I am a train driver myself and it seems like crosscountry have a very unusual way of handling their recruitment even by railway standards.

They are still doing psychometrics, this is the last week I believe, so probably getting everyone through those first and then onto dmi's

I applied for Newcastle in October. I haven’t been rejected yet and the only correspondence I’ve had since completing the SHL tests was an email saying they will be in touch in the coming weeks (that was 9th Jan). I know someone on this forum going for the Newcastle depot has been sent for psychometrics already. (I already have psychometrics so not really sure what stage of the process I’m at).
