Didn't they accept a 3.5 percent raise? Im sure I seen it somewhere so it'd be a little higher than stated but that gives you the best idea

Anyone know how kindly they take to swapping the depot you have applied for halfway through? Applied for Birmingham and doing my psychometrics end of the month, but that Derby one would be a much nicer commute from where I live

I would email recruitment and just mention derby is a better fit and see what they say.

You should receive a copy of practice materials. There a couple of websites for the bourdon grouping tests, but it's really just practice, practice, practice. For the interview portion, make sure to have multiple examples for the same question. The OPC were really tough, I had to give 3 different examples for the same question. They will just cut you off midway and ask you to start over with a different example.

Has anyone from Newcastle who is still on pending heard anything yet? I am wondering if it is worth reaching out to recruitment, as the last email I had was probably close to a month ago now saying that they're still going through applications and we should expect to hear within a couple of weeks.

I’m presuming that as many have been sent to the next stage, the rest of us are being kept as back ups incase they don’t meet the grade.

Do we know if anyone for Newcastle who has been sent for psychometrics?
Without double checking this thread I cannot say for sure, especially as not everyone uses this forum. However I can't say I have seen any Newcastle applications post about this yet.

Anyone heard anything re Bristol? Been nearly 8 months I think... Still pending. Thanks
I'll give you a run down of what I know about Bristol:

I'm in the Bristol Talent Pool with everything done - Sept 2023 applicant.

From the September 2023 applicants there are at least 2 in the talent pool for Bristol with every bit of the process done, just waiting medical and course start. A further 2 were in the same position, but have started with GWR last year.

From the summer 2025 applicants, I know of one person who has been progressed to psychometrics, for Bristol, has passed, and is waiting for DMI. That person has been waiting around 6 months for DMI so far.

In 2025, XC did 4 driver courses and took 3 people in total for Bristol. In 2026 there are hopefully 5 or 6 courses. I know 4 are certain. In January 2026, 2 internals started driver training for Bristol. They were Sept 2023 applicants, so they had a long wait, as well. From the very rare information that anyone receives from XC, there is expected to be some further Bristol requirements this year, but I'm keeping level headed about it.

If I'm right, about there being 2 left, including me in the talent pool then I'm hopeful we'll get cleared through soon for a start date and you might see some movement into the next stages around that time. If you're in process for GWR in Bristol then you can see which comes first and you might only have DMI for XC.

Thank you Reactor Scram. You always go to the trouble to answer my questions. Ahhhh, so that's why you didn't need to go through the whole process with GWR recently, because you had already completed assessments for XC. Do you have a preference? No worries if you would rather not say. Sounds like XC losing out on talent because they take too long. I've got my psychometric assessment day booked early April. Good luck with your applications!

Practicing for hand-eye coordinatation is usually through playing video games. As a console player, I found i didn't need to practice this one as it was something I do anyway.

It's essentially can you make the corresponding movements to an object on screen. Can you then correct it if it goes wrong?

Of course sorry yes we have, haven't purchased any other materials other than a group bourdon book, all the paper tests I'm fairly confident with. 2 hand not really been able to practice but as softquaser said above, shouldn't be too far off 2nd nature if you have a console, I'll just take as many practice attempts as I can on the day, ATAVT I've been practising every time I'm out in the car (while looking straight ahead - what's that sign? how many people walking on the pavement? what colours that car? what model? etc) not quite the same as you are seeing things for longer than a second but gets you used to noticing details. MMI is the one I'm not looking forward too, assuming I get that far

That's the same for me for a Newcastle position. I recently emailed them to see if there was any update on this.
