CrossCountry - Apprentice Train Driver - Recruitment Discussion

I done my online assessment on Thursday last week (the personality & spatial) I was dreading the spatial part, but had been practicing beforehand.
If I’m honest, the spatial wasn’t as bad as I had got myself worried about, I just done it to the best of
my ability & answered all the questions within the timeframe.
The question I do have for those who have also done these tests,
On the website where the tests were done, once finished the tests, I never got a message/notification on the site to say that they were complete,
Did anyone else get a message after they had finished the tests?
I have went back on & both say 100% complete, 0 time left.
But in my email invitation to take the tests, it still says not taken (despite having taken them)

Mine is the same so I am taking them as complete. So long as when you log on to SHL it says assessments are complete then you should have no issues. Good luck.

No problem. Now for the wait for the results! I have to say I’m not too hopeful as I feel I rushed the test and should have took more time to check over my answers. All learning I suppose!

Same here, the 26th, so I will guess that we won’t hear anything until after the 26th as there will be others who have yet to do the tests before the 26th deadline.
I’m sure you will have done better than you think, I have read on here of people thinking that they have done bad & been invited to the assessment etc.
the way I am looking at it is, stay positive & what will be, will be.

I hope we are not waiting for ages after the 26th to find out, but what that does mean is, I can stop repeatedly checking my emails from now until the 26th to see if there is a reply
But come the 26th onwards…my refresh button will be worn out

Agree with a lot of the other comments. Let’s hope the wait isn’t too long after the 26th, although I’m not expecting to hear quickly…

Hopefully it’s not too long a wait to hear back, but from now until the 26th, I won’t be constantly checking my emails for an update. So that’s one good thing

Now we're all waiting, when do you think the deadline was? Just doubled checked the email and all it said was the 26th. Think that meant last night at 12? Or tonight at 12?

My understanding of it is it’s by midnight tonight (26th) however that’s only my understanding, I might be wrong. Now it’s just a waiting game to find out if any of us have been successful on getting to the next stage.

speaking to many who have done their test seems the spatial reasoning test was different for many. The personality question I found random and struggled to relate to.
overall for an online test not actually part of the driver job test this was by far the hardest tests I’ve ever done

Hi all, just made the account today and seen all your posts about the cross country role. I myself applied for the apprentice train driver and did the SHL test earlier this week. From reading your lots posts will the start date for this role be 2027? I did not see anything like that in regards to the Birmingham depot.
Proberbly. These things from application to offer best case scenario is 1 year. Im open to be proven wrong and get my offer in the email tomorrow

If successful on this spatial ability test wouldn't the OPC test centre day be done In the early new year tho? jan feb time?

Not sure how it is for the 2025 applicants, but for those who applied in 2023, you then had an interview and only went to OPC if you were successful in the interview. Interviews were held in March and OPC in April.

So if you applied in November 2023, and was successful, the earliest OPC date would be April 2025?
That’s interesting to know. Did you have an online interview before the OPC?
