They were genuinely up about 20 minutes ago and have now been taken down from the career website which is strange. I imagine it's just a glitch or fault and they will go back up shortly

I'm hearing qualified drivers are submitting applications for the above...unsure if that's correct or allowed however has someone mentioned on here before that they applied as a Qualified?

Apprentice train driver up again for Birmingham, Edinburgh and Leeds.
I wonder what this will mean for the rest of us sitting in the pool. These jobs aren’t talent pool positions and have course dates advertised for 2026/27. I can only assume that it means we’ll automatically get put onto the same courses.

On the aplication it says the salary after passing training will be 43k does anyone know how long you will be on that salary for until it rises to the 60-70k of full time drivers?

Hi, i applied for Bristol in early 25, got the spatial awareness tests sent in March some time. Got a call from XC at later end of July to book Psychometric testing in Manchester. I passed all tests and now wait for the next step. Does anyone know how long the next part is? Is it now a long waiting game? I haven't had a DMI yet. Also, ive seen so many different starting wages, does anyone know an up to date wage scale so I can see what i'd be on please and when it goes up? I dont mind what it is but I need to know for budgeting reasons. Many thanks.
Hi, congrats on passing your tests. Out of interest how did you find the spatial awareness test and what did it consist of? Do you get plenty of practice material or did you source your own?

Going to give the Newcastle opportunity a shot, best of luck to everyone else applying for this batch of opportunities!

It’s all getting a bit convoluted isn’t it!

Has anyone from the May/June 2025 intake had sight of a dmi or medical yet? I’ve passed psychometrics and mmi and just starting to look ahead.

I’m assuming it’ll be another few months wait at least!

Medical will not take place until you are offered a place on the scheme. The medical is often the last step in the process

Well I've popped an application in for Edinburgh so will see what happens, I have previously passed all the paper based assesments with another toc but was unsuccessful at the DMI stage after a strong interview but unfortunately they are not willing to provide any feedback which is a poor show

Hi, i didn't practice it and had no idea what iy would be like so I did it blind and having never done it before or seen it before. I found it tricky. I was methodical and calm which meant I completed the whole set of questions in the time frame. I have since seen lots of practice tests online so pop onto Google and try some tests as that will help.

Is anyone in here that applied for Manchester May 2025 still waiting for the next stage after OPC tests? Just curious as to where people are up to as I'm still pending after online tests were completed (already passed psychometrics).

If you had already passed your opc tests, which other tests did you have to sit?

I’m not sure if this helps you or not but I took the spatial test online at the beginning of June and didn’t hear anything until September when I got a call inviting me to psychometrics. I’ve now passed those so I’m in exactly the same boat as you and my application still says pending. I applied for Plymouth so will be different to you I would imagine but might give you an idea as to timescale.

Yeah I appreciate that thanks, just trying to gauge if I have definitely passed the tests as I've had no contact or confirmation after completing the online tests... So near enough 5 months of just waiting and wondering. I know how ruthless and slow the recruitment can be though so still got my fingers crossed all is fine and I will be straight through to a DMI hopefully!

Have you completed your stage one and stage two then?

Yep have passed both stages so am also playing the waiting game again. It’s such a long process isn’t it!

Hopefully we hear something soon.

Applying for this one myself, hopefully we can get an interview. Has anyone got any idea what the process is, because it states this below, but I've seen some people posting it's different

  • A review of your online application
  • Online assessments (facilitated by our assessment partner, SHL)
  • Train Driver Psychometric Testing
  • Values Alignment meeting
  • A safety-critical medical
