I agree. I don’t think everybody will be interviewed either. Hopefully if people don’t make DMI they are put out their misery instead of left in limbo though.

Let’s hope we all get a shot at DMI was more of a good luck to everybody. Probably should have just worded it as such

I think so, yes. However I believe from the last thread there are people who still haven’t heard anything. My guess and it is only a guess, is that those who haven’t heard were considered for DMI and ultimately never made it for whatever reason. (Maybe the DMIs that were arranged scored well enough so they ended up with enough numbers for instance) somebody with more experience in this field or who was in the last XC thread may be able to shed more light on this though.

I think with XC, they don't have a good track record with communicating the 'No' side of re recruitment. Often just leave people hanging until their applications are deleted

This was certainly my experience - I didn't receive an 'unfortunately etc' Email after the RAAT so I presume I passed that, but it was radio silence from thereon out. Not a good look.

That’s probably the most frustrating part too. Imagine waiting and just never hearing back. You’d rather just be told no than hold on to that false hope wouldn’t you? I hope that doesn’t happen to you again.

It's par for the course for a lot of companies so it wasn't surprising, but that doesn't mean it's the right way for a company to conduct themselves, especially in an industry that's as people-centric as the railway.

It's not right in any industry, recruitment teams in railway companies tend to be tiny (1 or 2 staff). I had more than that in the one department store, never mind company wide (despite less staff than my current TOC). Obviously there are reasons for both sides of this. But the result tends to be poor experiences unless you're successful unfortunately

I'm assuming everyone that applied have prior railway experience? Is that a factor in how XC decide who gets invited to a DMI?

Not necessarily. Will be people from all backgrounds that have applied. They will take forward people who have passed the RAAT and those that have transferable skills from all walks of life.

Considering this is for Talent Pool 2024/25 I would hazard a guess they won’t be recruiting again for a little while. Who knows though, they may be looking again this time next year. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting though. I would just keep an eye out and hopefully something comes up again in the future.

My friends been told his application is being reviewed by the hiring managers.

Fingers crossed they start inviting applicants to the DMI soon

Nope, nothing. They’re probably in no rush since it’s a talent pool position. So long as no one’s heard yet then we are all good.
