Do a quick search on this thread or on the forum and you'll find this answered hundreds of times. TOCs want resourceful people, this isn't hard information to find. In fact, if you read this thread it's already been discussed.

I value my time and don't necessarily have the time to go searching through 245 messages on the off chance that the answer I'm looking for may be in there. He's just telling you the truth and I don't see where he went completely wrong. The search tool will literally answer your question plus there is a sticky thread in this same bit of the fourm called "Assessments & Medicals Master Thread".

As a driver you can't expect to be whatsapping others on how to find info to perform a shunt or perform a troubleshooting procedure in the cab without first actually doing the research which isnt usually hard to find as it will be in a specfic app or site(like this fourm is an example of). The fourm indeed is here to help people and hence why such info plus advice is readily available.

I apologise if it came across as sarky, it wasn't. These threads are great for people to find out answers. But you will find your questions have already been answered in this thread, and it makes it harder for everyone to ready through when it's repeated again and again. Especially when we are not at psychometric stage yet.

I also value my time, and give the best answers and advice to all those who ask questions. You are applying for a job that requires you to spend a lot of your own time initially, preparing for tests and then revising what you learn during rules etc.

I don’t see where they were sarky, silly or unhelpful, their point was very valid. And there’s no need to be rude to them because they didn’t answer to your question, as you wanted it to be answered.

It takes like 20 minutes to go through the entire thread. It should be in your best interest to do so, if you are applying for this job, and if you value your time you’d go through it and more threads.

If the same question is answered to, over and over again, then indeed the threat will be filled with the same answers for the same questions, and it will make it more time consuming for the people who want to go through the threats in search of useful information that they can use in the application.

Things like this, are what could set you back on a drivers application vs a person who takes the time to look throughly for the information that could help them.

In addition to this, a quick search with key words on google, usually brings the threads that discuss the answers that you need.

I agree, that lazy wanting everything handed to you on a plate attitude with no effort isn't a great mindset of a professional driver. In fact, along with being unable to deal with constructive criticism, it's very unpopular.

I think mine was fine. I don’t want to jinx myself but I had done it before, not too long ago, and passed it.

In the time it took you to write that, you could have had a nice list of 10/20 posts answering all your questions lined up in front of you, with a steaming cup of coffee perched by your side.

Directing you to the search function isn't sarky, it's the best advice you can be given on this forum.

Not had chance to do mine, but I've done them before so I'm quietly confident. And with having not one, but two sets of passed psychometric testing on file, I'd like to think this won't phase me.

I’m not sure but if I read correctly on the last Xcountry apprentice train driver thread, they received the RAAT around the 22nd of December, OPC was closed between 23rd of December till the 3rd of January for Christmas/festive period. And on the 3rd they received an answer back.

So it could take long or not.

Ok, that's a bit annoying. I was under the impressed it's automatically scored, but maybe OPC still want to go over the scores before passing it on to the TOC? Best to forget about it focus on other things for now I guess.

It is automatically scored, but the responses from OPC are sent manually by just 2 members of staff (normally) so can take a week or so

Not sure what the pass score is. It's a shame there isn't a visable timer as you don't loose points for wrong answers. Hopefully you got 30 correct and that's above the cut off.

Was mentioned earlier in the thread and on older threads. RAAT test is for speed and accuracy. No one knows the exact scoring but it's better to get a higher % correct and not finish, rather than get, say 22/34 correct.

And yet in its instructions it very clearly states that you are best putting any answers down if you're running out of time as you won't be penalised for wrong answers.

Clearly the higher percentage of answers you get correct gives you a greater chance of passing.

Did you fill in the OPC form? Double check spam/junk folders.

I've passed all tests in the last 12 months, as well as taking (and presumably passing - I never received an 'unsuccessful' Email!) a RAAT about 6 months ago, and I still have to do it again. I'd double check your details mate.

We're agreed on that. It's better to get less done with a high percentage of accuracy and guess the rest if you have time

Just did mine and it seemed (by and large) simple enough, though a few questions (for me) needed more careful thought than the rest.

Indeed, I think one of the questions is deliberately worded to make you check the passage a few times! From experience, non of the testing is designed to trip anyone up, they just require good concentration and calmness of thought IMO.

Now that I think, there was one specific question that really confused me to the point I thought there was no answer to it

But after reading it a bit more carefully, I think I understood it and got it right.
