I've gone for 24th October. I got both an email and a phone call. I've just had my first practice at the group Bourdon test. I completed 59 rows (across 5 sheets) but missed 13 boxes.

Which depot did you apply for, and how did you find spatial ability test, which was quite tricky for many of us.

Work on slowing it down a little to focus on accuracy.

It’s one of the tests where the more you do it the easier it becomes as you get used to the formation of the number of dots required.

For any of you in the talent pool already.
I had a call last week informing me that all courses including January next year are full and allocated.
with at least another 5 courses due to be filled throughout 2026.
Should start getting some movement for those of us that’s been waiting for a while.

Sounds promising! Was the call offering you a place on one of the courses or was it just informing you that this is the case? Did they say how many courses are planned next year? Cheers

How often do crosscountry do recruitment drives, I know us rejected folk have to wait 6 months before we reapply so the question is will they open up for applicants within the 6 months or is it like a yearly thing?

I'm Derby too, but I'm not receiving any updates if courses are full or not

The last recruitment drive for trainees before this one was in September 2023

How longs a piece of string?

All Toc's and Foc's recruit when they need drivers/top up their talent pools.

Seem are more regular than others, for example I see Northern recruit a lot. But I've only seen XC recruit twice in the last year or so.

15th July I had the email to say I hadn’t got past the SHL assessments.
This was for the recent recruitment drive.

Sorry to hear that then mate, they were definitely on the tough side when it comes to these assessments for train driver jobs.

I don't know if you are interested or not but I have seen Northern have just put an advert up for Manchester again, if you wanted to give them a crack.

Thanks. For Northern Manchester is too far as they have restricted the commute time to 45 minutes at 0800 on a Monday morning so Liverpool is my only depot that I can apply for.
haven’t succeeded with TPE or Cross Country in these recent recruitment drives unfortunately so I have to hold out for when Lime St next comes up.
Hopefully you get some good news soon with CC. I bet it painful being so far along in the process with no updates.

I’ve just banged one in for northern after being unsuccessful with TPE, still waiting on the XC outcome though.

The selection process with northern sounds brutal, having to attend an in person group test session throughout the day, separate to the psychometrics. I’ve not heard of that with any other TOC before
