Apologies if this is in the wrong thread, and not sure if anyone else has a similar view. I’m a seasoned London transport user, and always manage to get lost or at least confused crossing Tower Bridge (from the Southwark side) to get to Fenchurch Street or the TfL stations nearby. The signage is dreadful and there’s a few quite fast roads to cross if you don’t use the subways. I was rushing tonight so didn’t photograph it but one of the Legible London signs definitely gives the wrong directions down into a subway which is defintely wrong at that point

Given there’s so many tourists in that specific area it does seem like something that could easily be sorted out with some clearer signage.

Or maybe it’s just me!

Never had a problem personally. I usually use the subways, I tried crossing the roads once coming from Tower Gateway DLR and it was a nightmare.

Looking at Google maps would suggest that the easiest way to avoid the subways if coming from South of the river is to keep the Tower on your left, until you reach a pedestrian crossing directly opposite the gardens adjacent to the west side of Tower Hill Station. Continuing straight ahead after crossing the road will bring you on to Coopers Row, with an entrance to Fenchurch Street.

I'm intrigued as to where signs could incorrectly direct you into the subways though.

I’m a bit puzzled too. Tower Hill and Tower Gateway are so close once you get to the north end of Tower Bridge Road that I can’t see what the problem is. Fenchurch St is more tucked out of the way, but then given the destinations it serves I can’t imagine it’s a go-to station for many tourists (who probably mainly use the mapping features on their phones which are remarkably good these days - suggest you use that too if in doubt).

I think DLR and Tube are quite obvious, but I imagine Fenchurch Street could be tricky for the uninitiated - it’s probably the least obvious London terminal.

My take on it: straight over Tower Bridge on the west side, down to the Tower moat-level path, duck under Tower Hill (the road), up the stairs to the Tube station. Straight past that and you’ve arrived at the back (Cooper’s Row) entrance to Fenchurch St.
