Hi,

Quick question. I'm due yo travel from Hull to Birmingham tomorrow with an off peak return. Due to the strike the Cross Country train I planned to get from Doncaster isn't running. I have the choice of leaving an hour later and connecting st Sheffield though that train has had reservations suspended and is likely to be full and standing. Or I can set off earlier and go via Manchester and VTWC which will take 2 hours longer. Either way I will arrive at least an hour later than originally planned.

Given that the strike timetable was only confirmed within the last couple of days and I bought my ticket when the original journey was still live in the journey planner system, can I claim delay repay?

Many thanks!

Delay Repay will be payable based on the time you were scheduled to arrive when the ticket was bought. The claim should be sent to CrossCountry, who may refuse at first, but we'll be happy to help if they do.

I don't forsee any issues with you taking TPE to Manchester and then a combination of CrossCountry / Northern / TfW / Virgin / WMT to complete your journey, as travel via Manchester is a permitted route.
