Hi there,

I'm planning to apply and (hopefully!) get into a railway career. Can anybody tell me what the shifts and train workings are like for CC for the Senior Conductors? If I'm right, these are for the 170-DMU worked lines such as Stansted Airport and Nottingham?

Many thanks

New Street sign to Cardiff, Stansted and Nottingham. Plus diversions. 170 only.
Decent shifts tbh earliest start will be about 0445 and latest finish round midnight.
4 day week, Sundays rostered but you can get rid if you want but they’re well paid so most do them.
Loads of new faces as a lot have retired or left in last few years. Good depot.

Do they also sign Leicester?

You may find the Cross Country entry in this thread useful:

Crosscountry has two types of conductors - Senior Conductors and Train Managers

Bristol to Cardiff via Gloucester
Stansted Airport to New Street (including via Castle Donington, Kingsbury to Whitacre)

Birmingham New Street (TMs):
Traction: HST, 220, 221

Common across both links:
New Street to Bournemouth and Plymouth (including via Worcester, Solihull, Newport, and possibly Andover diversions)

Link One:
New Street to Manchester Piccadilly via Macclesfield, Crewe, Alsager, Styal, Nuneaton and Hixon)

Link Two:
New Street to Newcastle via Leeds and Doncaster (including via Leicester, Lichfield, Toton, Barrow Hill, Rotherham, Kilnhurst, Barnsley, S&K & Castleford)
