Look in the back pages of the latest copy of modern railways, Irish rail are asking for offers for their 82 MK3 carriages.
Also in the latest issue of modern railways is a article about traxx loco's and refurbishing the Mk3 stock.
XC have 57 (?) Voyagers, plus the five HSTs.
82 carriages would only mean around a dozen additional trains (since you've got to be talking six coaches minimum), maybe even only ten trains. And then you couldn't be planning to run each set each day. So even those 82 carriages wouldn't mean *that* many longer trains.
It'd be a step in the right direction, sure, but we need a structured far-ranging programme to improve XC capacity
