Hi

I've passed onto the second stage of assessment for Trainee Train Driver and am now on Reaction and Coordination Tests with a third party.

I have now been told that i'll have to sit a Criteria Based Interview.

Does anyone know what kind of questions i'll be asked.

I have already completed a Structured Interview on the first stage of assessment

Many Thanks

Never heard of that interview. I'm waiting for my structured interview. The criteria one isn't the depot manager interview is it?

Fgw called my managers interview a 'criteria based interview' they ask the same sort of job related questions as in the structured plus some extra standard questions about the company, they also went through a couple of scenarios with me.

I had that already macncheese. Structured interview with 2 managers

Just confusing as did the first stages 12months ago. No mention of a CBI until I asked HR the question

I'm also at a third party so would they want me to talk about them. Guess I'll find out!!

Have you sat an interview where you are first asked to write down your answers to several questions on life experiences that are nothing to do with the railways? (Your answers might be) After that you are then questioned on those answers.

If not I'm guessing its the 'standard' structured interview you will be sitting.
(You normally do this at roughly the same time as the other Psychometric tests)

If so the confusion is probably that your managers interview was structured to some extent but was specific to the TOC that interviewed you.

Hope this makes sense!

In the non-railway world these interviews look for you to provide examples of situations where you have applied each criterion. The answers should be specific (describing the circumstances and what you did) and personal (what you did, not what someone else did or vague answers).

If you weren't given questions in the application form I think you should be given the criteria. If you haven't why not ask what they are?

Very similar to Structured, Given 25 mins to fill in questions which you are asked to show your experience whether work or on your own time and expand upon. Looking into relevant train driver qualities to see if you're suitable
Dealing with difficult situations, Working alone etc.
Looking at 60mins+ talking about your answers and going into more depth
