Has anyone had a look at the new national crime map for their area.

The only crimes for my street are listed as "other crime" so no idea what that means. Can't say I've noticed anything particular bad around here.

So you know Mojo, the link you provided keeps flicking on and off loading, click the Police UK button in the top left to go to the home page and stop it.

Mine is BB2 (Blackburn - West Side) - ASB: 52; Violent Crime: 5. Suprise, suprise. All info on local coppers etc is correct, shame the map spelt my local park wrong

Assault and Drunk and Disorderly will be very high for mine! There are a load of takeaways in the next street as well as one of the more dubious night clubs

Finally worked for me randomly, anyway at home I get:

2 Other Crime

Whilst where a live at uni gets:

17 Burglary's
79 ASB
1 Robbery

24 Violent Crime
54 Other Crime

So stay inside at uni and keep all doors and windows closed and locked hock:

Doesn't seem to have anything in Scotland, though there'll be a few on my street, as quite a few garages have been broken into recently (nothing stolen though, despite breaking into some of them twice, including one with a Porsche and loads of tools in it :?)

From what I can see, this doesn't cover railway stations, i.e. I imagine BTP/CNC/MOD detections have not been included in these figures, just home office forces.

Zoom in on the map for the specific street numbers rather than just the area numbers.

And I suspect the figures are treating multiple incidents on the same day as a single crime rather than individual crimes; it shows just four for our road but there have certainly been more than that.

Down to devolution. Policing is devolved to the Scottish Parliament/Scottish Government, and as such it would be their responsibility to hold and publish this information. I would be interested to see it for my local area.

BTP already publish their NR/LU/DLR stats by station on their website and have done for a while, if you're interested.

My area seemed rather high - and then I noticed the circle around my postcode area just clips the edge of the roughest estate round here which is where abouit 80% of them were.

Just 1 noted on my route from my local station home.

Unfortunately as it's based on google maps it describes most areas of Bradford as Queensbury as google maps don't seem to realise that's just a small town between Bradford and Halifax but instead thinks it's a huge area.

The circle for my postcode covers the entirety of Oxford Street and Regent Street which would account for a lot of the ''other crimes'' as I imagine there is a lot of shoplifting. It also covers all of Soho and a fair chunk of Covent Garden and a lot of Theatreland, as far south as Pall Mall and the Strand which having filtered it has a lot of crimes which you'd expect from those intoxicated. It also goes around Euston station and as far north as Mornington Crescent, which is a bit of a dump.

It doesn't go as far as the Palace of Westminster but it just skirts past Buckingham Palace!

What is the worst that isn't in London, Birmingham, Liverpool etc? Guess: East Lancs.

Not really a measure of how much crime is actually committed in an area - just the reporting. Might be a lot of curtain twichers in one area who phone the police if someone drops some litter.
