I was impressed by the lack of extras (9), with only 1 no ball and 3 wides, think England especially Archer will beat that.

I turned the radio off just after the second wicket fell this morning, that and it was nearly time to go home to bed. I was a bit surprised to see the close of play score. I did watch the highlights on YouTube this afternoon. Archer played a good supporting role to Root.

After yesterday’s excitement, it seems to be same old from England today, with a howler of a drop from “the wicketkeeper whose only in for his batting” (but scored a duck yesterday), and a pretty unimpressive performance by our bowlers. They're all playing T20-style cricket these days, a proper Test innings is a dying art. Gone are the days of a Boycott boring everyone into submission. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

England didn't do much under the floodlights. Reckon we'll put another 100 or so on the total and then try and get at England later in the day. Expecting England to absolutely crumble under the lights on day three. Should be fun.

I think I'll revise my prediction from 4-1 to 5-0. This shower haven't the slightest chance of winning a test. The catching today was a joke.....matching most of yesterday's batting, with the exception of Root, who seems to be the only one with a functioning brain. And Jamie Smith.....selected as a batsman-WK.......2nd ball duck playing a stupid shot and couldn't catch germs.......
If Australia add 150 runs tomorrow, they'll not need to bat again.

I think it’s fair to say the mood in our hotel last night was pretty vitriolic. Whether it was the catching, the fielding tactics (how many runs were scored through third man?), the apparent deliberate tactic of not bowling at the stumps (only 7%), or picking Jacks and only giving him one over. It was desperately unintelligent cricket, and unfortunately we all agreed with others above that the game (and effectively the series) is likely to be over in all but name by the end of the third day, because our batsmen will do the same again because “it’s the way we play”.

Glad I’m not out here for all five but heading home on Tuesday.
