So the England Central Contract list has been released (Shown below, taken from the Yorkshire CCC website).

So what’s interesting? Alex Lees, ever present in the Tests this summer, does not receive a contract, not even incremental. This may make it likely that he is not in the plans for the Test tour of Pakistan. Jason Roy is downgraded to an incremental deal after being dropped from the T20I squad, yet there is no deal of any kind for either Phil Salt or Alex Hales. Test newcomers this summer Matty Potts and Harry Brook receive incremental deals. I really do think that Brook could become a core player in all 3 formats in the next couple of years.

Who is looking less or more likely to play the Tests in Pakistan? Will Jacks has been suggested as a spinning all rounder after Moeen took himself out of contention. Ben Duckett has done nothing to harm his chances after displaying his talents in the Pakistan T20I series. Sam Curran is also a high possibility, with England supposedly wanting an all rounder heavy side to give plenty of bowling options. Keaton Jennings is in the discussion as well, as a good player of spin and after a good County season in England.

Central Contract:
Moeen Ali (Warwickshire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Sam Curran (Surrey), Ben Foakes (Surrey), Jack Leach (Somerset), Liam Livingstone (Lancashire), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham)

Incremental Contract:
Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Dawid Malan (Yorkshire), Matthew Potts (Durham), Jason Roy (Surrey), Reece Topley (Surrey), David Willey (Northamptonshire from 1 Nov 22)

Pace Bowling Developmemt Contract:
Brydon Carse (Durham), Matthew Fisher (Yorkshire), Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire), Craig Overton (Somerset), Jamie Overton (Surrey), Olly Stone (Nottinghamshire from 1 Nov 22)

Only practice matches prior to World Cup. England used their first choice team, whereas Australia omitted Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins.
I kept your posting in mind and was interested in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup match between Australia and New Zealand, when those three Australian seamers would be certain to be included.

New Zealand 200-3 (20 overs)
Conway 92 not out (2 x 6 and 7 x 4)
The lowest economy rate of all the Australian bowlers was 9.00

Australia 111 all out (17.1 overs)
No batsman reached the 30 run mark.
Southee 2.1 - 0 - 6 - 3.

An extremely pleasing result, especially as it was played in Australia and the home team won the toss.

Meantime, England's batters are making hard work of overtaking Afghanistan's low score. Adil Rashid went wicketless again and Mooen didn't bowl a ball: if spin is to play a significant part in this World Cup, I don't see England going too far unless the spinners get their mojo back. Maybe Livingstone will get to bowl more than the odd over.

England win in the end. Good to see them not go for 5 frontline bowlers, and good to see Stokes bowl 4 overs. Moeen really should be bowling a bit or he shouldnt be in the team.

Pity the T20 tournament isn’t being held in a warm, sunny dry country like England :D

The number of rained-off games is now getting ridiculous: which teams go forward may become a total lottery. Pakistan, with two incredibly near misses, could lose out to a team with one good win and four 'no results'!

Last night was a frustrating. I had a ticket to the game(s). I rocked up at 5.30pm. Had a Pizza at Tower 6 in the MCC. Went up to near my seat at the Frank Grey Smith Bar and really never left. Apparently the outfield was damp.
I left and went to Crown Casino for a beer.
At least I get a refund on my ticket.

La Nina is in full swing. Half the east coast is getting drowned in water. Already saturated ground is getting more water on it. 3 weeks really of non stop rain.

I'm not downplaying the problems with getting cricket played in those conditions in the chosen locations. It's the lack of a Plan B for what could have been easily foreseen (in terms of heavy rain in each very limited time allocation for a match, even without the prolonged nature) that gets me, but is of course to be expected when the moneymen now run cricket internationally with scant regard for the individual cricket lover, and not a lot more for the players collectively. I understand Brisbane and Perth, for instance, are not affected by this weather: I know the distances are large, but with goodwill and an extra reserve week added to the schedule from the start the logistics would not have been insuperable.

You have my commiserations for not being able to watch your team being whipped by England (again) by the way. ;)

So Semi Final day today - India 168-6 from their 20 and England race to victory with 4 overs and 10 wickets to spare.

Was that a dominant performance by England or a shocker by India (or a bit of both?)

Buttler 80 not out (49 balls ... 3 x 6 and 9 x 4)

Hales 86 not out (47 balls ... 7 x 6 and 4 x 4)

Don't put me through that again! Please!
If the 'right' result ensues, it'll be worth it! Have a feeling, though, that thirty years on from Pakistan's victory against England under Imran Khan, and the latter having just survived an assassination attempt, the force may be with them. Whatever, I just hope it's a decent, close-fought contest over the full 40 overs, and cricket will be the winner.

More likely a washout. Forecast is not good!

The final will be shown live on Channel 4.

That's if it doesn't rain....

sometimes rain at cricket brings out the very best of the commentary team!
True, but a lot depends on who the commentators are! being an evening start, they haven't given themselves much wriggle room if there are delays, although to be fair if they started at 2pm (their time obvs) leaving the rest of the day, think both the spectators and players, plus TV/radio companies of course, would be pretty naffed off waiting around until 9pm for a 5-over game!

oh I don’t know, when I‘ve been ‘rain delayed’ attending a match I’ve quite enjoyed the general banter and chat whilst waiting. Might be something to do with the bar of course…

Me too, being in Lancs it's often the other way round, waiting for the rain to come to alleviate from the tedium of our performance!

The organisers have seen (some) sense and allocated more time to try to ensure some play, at least - more time can be taken on Sunday, and there's provision for Monday play too.

Yes, and Sky are allowing Channel Four to show the match live, enabling many like me to view it.

There was always the option of a days sub to NOW for around a tenner, but a waste of a tenner if the game is washed out! Always thought that any significant final involving a home nation should be part of the "crown jewels" and always be FTA.

As for the game, with the forecast it's gonna be farcical at best. Could have the situation where the first inns is played under lights, wet outfield, damp ball, no/too much swing etc, and the game be completed the following day with the complete opposite conditions. That's expected in test cricket, part of the game but not a 20-over final.

I have a feeling Australia won't get the rights to host another one for an awfully long time. The weather conditions are obviously not their fault but the timing and choice of venues was. Melbourne and Sydney were always going to be the venues most likely to be impacted by the weather. Just hope that forecast is wrong for both teams' sake. I want to see a full game competitive to the last where neither side can legitimately say they were victims of the conditions, unlike in a couple of the earlier matches. May the best team win.

The current radar. Nothing to worry about at the moment.

Don't host in October/November.

Phew! England win the T20 cup with 5 wickets and one over to spare.

It was much closer than those numbers suggest though. Some very tense overs in the middle of the England innings, with the batsmen struggling to score more than two or three an over and slipping behind the required rate and the DLS par score.

Time for a lie down to recover :)

Well, a total shock that no-one could have predicted, completely against the recent run and everyone's bet....it didn't rain (much)!!!

Well done England and Big Ben, thought we'd thrown it away in the middle order with sone poor shots (although ironically Buttler got out playing a solid defensive shot!!). That's the double and no doubt in tile there will be a "100" World Cup. No thanks!!
