It indeed was the bowling performance of Anderson in the Australian first innings that saw them only compile a small innings total that helped the natural progression of the rest of the match.

To think that Anderson had been described as a pie-chucker last year by some unkind antipodean says much, not the least that certain Australian batsmen seem to have a problem with dealing with both "pies" and the small round red ball...

that is somewhat harsh. he is almost unplayable at times in English conditions and only very good on other pitches!

I wonder who comes into replace him. Wood? Footitt? Woakes? Bresnan? Plunkett? Rushworth perhaps

Over the last couple of years, whilst Onions has been struggling with injury, he has been Durham's best bowler in the Championship and this year has 64 wickets at an average of 19.20 (the next best is James Harris with 52 at an average of 25.40) with five matches still to play.

But my suspicion is that they'll either go for Wood (assuming he's fully fit) or they'll go for someone like Woakes, Bresnan or Plunkett who have international experience. I'm not sure they'll want to blood a new bowler at such a big match like Trent Bridge is going to be.

Also I really don't want England to make of with Rushworth, Stokes and Wood at the same time as they're rather vital Durham...

well being biased i want to see Rushforth in or perhaps Collingwood

I don't think he will be picked. Media talk seems to suggest he is seen as very good county bowler on county pitches but not top class and lacking pace.

Whoever is called up needs to be on the top of their game
