In fairness, with Cook, Compton, Trott and Bell in the side who all have proven track records of impersonating Paul Collingwood and blocking out for ages, I had every confidence that it would be a draw. What I didn't expect was Steve Finn to bat for two sessions! Still, at times he bowled like a drain so he owed the side a contribution.

I'm now praying Cook wins the toss and bats in the next Test which starts this week. Anybody for racking up 550 against tired bowlers?

Sounds like a plan to me, though only if conditions suit it! Must admit as soon as I heard Cook had lost the toss in the test just gone I knew we were going to be in trouble in our first innings what with the weather around.

Yes, I've been following this development today on Cricinfo, Australia have really made a mess of this! But was it so hard for those four to comply with a reasonable request, after all the rest of the squad did it! There are probably more underlying tensions within the Aus camp....can't help having a little smirk!

I think that the Aussie public are more furious because they are not winning and so they are not quite sure how to handle it! Frankly, they have a pretty weak team and have in all honesty only achieved what they have in the past year due to Clarke's batting. It's a first class shambles - more emerging about lack of discipline in the camp etc. Still, ultimately, their players aren't good enough to compete against the 3 best sides, and no amount of wibble will change that.

Looked in again a little later on. It appears that Cook was out for 17 when the score was only 26-1.

The day ended well and a great improvement in the England batting in the first innings of the first Test Match.

Compton made his century then was immediately out, but Trott ended the day 121no.

The most farcical scenario has happened at the Kensington Oval today, West Indies required 12 runs to win, but only managed 9 runs before the scheduled lunch break, so lunch has been taken, with only 3 more runs needed. I know the laws state that a session can only be extended if the batting team is 9 down before the interval, but surely the ICC/MCC should make the same rule regarding batting, perhaps if within 20 runs of the target then you can stay out for extra 30 mins

If the ICC allowed common sense then they would of stayed out, but the laws state play can only be extended if the batting team is 9 down which is just totally bizzare.

Will New Zealand try to emulate the English batting in their second innings of the last Test Match where they batted out two days, only losing a single wicket just before the end of the fourth day, which made the fifth and final day so much easier than it could have been ?
