I doubt it. You get low scoring games from time to time. Otherwise Somerset & Hampshire supporters could ask the same question about Taunton this week - only 633 runs scored across the 4 innings.

It’s not uncommon to have low-scoring games at the end of the season - dew with the early starts, autumn dampness, tired pitches, who knows what else, it is, after all, almost October.

At the same time this doesn’t affect all grounds, looking at the current scores shows that. The Oval, for example, always seems a place where teams could probably still score 400 if they played in November.

Lancashire seem to lose control when having broken through the top opposition batting order. In the drawn match against Worcestershire, the following occurred:-
Worcestershire (1st innings)....Recovered from being 39-6 to 180 all out
Worcestershire (2nd innings)...Recovered from being 78-6 to 223-9 at the end of 4th day.

Talksport is too shouty for me, and when something of note happens the shouting turns incoherent. They seem not to realise that they’re supposed to be describing the action to people who can’t see it. Most - but not all - of the TMS people seem to get it.

Exactly my view too! I've lost count of the times I've been talking back to the radio on Talksport 2 saying "so was it a six or was it caught inside the rope?" or similar. They're so busy saying "what a fantastic piece of cricket" etc. that they don't say what actually happened.

BBC Test Match Special will broadcast ball-by-ball commentary of England's Test tour of Pakistan after securing audio rights for the series.

BBC Test Match Special will broadcast ball-by-ball commentary of England's Test tour of Pakistan after securing audio rights for the series.

A team led by BBC cricket correspondent Jonathan Agnew will broadcast from Multan from Monday, 7 October, with two further Tests starting on 15 and 24 October.

Commentators Aatif Nawaz and Simon Mann will be joined by Ashes-winning bowler Steven Finn, former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja and World Cup winner and Multan Sultans spin coach Alex Hartley, while Andy Zaltzman will be scorer.

The action will start at 06:00 BST each day, while there will be a daily podcast on BBC Sounds after each day's play and extensive coverage on the BBC Sport website and app.

Apart from the series two years ago we've only ever won two tests in Pakistan, so with an inexperienced group of bowlers that's no great surprise.

I really don't think we have done too badly at all so far. Pakistan have the flattest pitches in the world and this pitch is an absolute road. Might be one of the worst I've ever seen.

However despite that our bowling attack does not look that good to me. Bashir is still inconsistent and needs a lot of time to get better, leach is good but not great, Atkinson I'm really not convinced by at all, Woakes is only good at home and while he looks better away from home than he has in the past I don't think he's the answer and Carse has only been picked because he's tall and bowls at 90mph. He's done alright Carse to be fair but this bowling attack will be skittled and destroyed in Australia and to be honest I'm not sure how they will get on in New Zealand as well.

Why oh why Jamie Porter and Sam Cook can't get England call ups I don't know.
