Andrew Flintoff's son, Rocky, has been given his first pro contract by Lancs. He's still 16, congrats to the lad and all that, but as a fan I know darned well that if he's good then we will see little of him due to England central contracts and 20/20/franchise tournaments, probably mostly with the Brave Sundowners in Spring and the Krispy Krisps in summer.

So my excitement is dulled by that, whereas in my younger days it was a privilege watching the likes of Fowler, Fairbrother, Atherton developing knowing that even if they play for their country, a Lancs fan will still see them for a good chunk of the season.

Think I'm right in saying that as Australia are seeded, then whether they finish first or second is irrelevant? So they don't even have an incentive to beat Scotland, never mind slowing down the r/r to eliminate England.

Scotland certainly played Australia a lot better than England had, and we shall never know whether they might have beaten England given a proper chance. Morally, I think they deserved to go through more than England. I speak as someone who only knows two things about his maternal grandfather, one being that he represented Scotland at cricket in the early part of the 1900s, apparently!

I'm well aware of the impact sub, but it's not unheard of to have a retired out batter to let, let's say, Tim David smash the ball further and further into the crowd

There was also, fairly recently, a double super over in in India Vs someone T20i, where Rohit retired after 5 balls to let Rinku Singh run faster on the last ball of the over

I can do late nights and early mornings, but I normally try to be asleep between 2am and 4am. At least they won, and the most of rest of Englands matches in this competition will be in the afternoon (one of the semi finals also at 1.30am).
