Crianlarich to Glasgow

Good morning all

We (me, my partner, and the wee boy) are off on holiday in the not too distant future and one of the days we are planning on getting the train into Glasgow from our base in Strathfillan.

I was initially just going to get a return ticket on the railcard but upon further investigation I have found that a return ticket from Crianlarich to Ardlui, and then a SPT daytripper from Ardlui into Glasgow (Ardlui is the northern tip of the SPT area). This has an added benefit of including the buses and the subway when in Strathclyde.

However, it says on the website that you can not buy these tickets on the train; only in advance. With Ardlui not being staffed, I am confused as to how I would get one in time to travel.

Can you please advise.

A roundabout ticket (just trains & subway is available from onboard staff

Think I'll see about popping into a staffed station (as we need to head through the SPT area to get up there).

The roundabout ticket isn't cheaper than the straight return, so it isn't a realistic option.

The Roundabout doesn't really meet your requirements anyway as it is smaller area and so would only be valid as far as Dalreoch
Each ticket is cheaper, but when travelling in a group the Daytripper is cheaper overall plus offering the larger area of travel

Also good to see SPT have reinstated the Roundabout into their website after it was removed in February 2011

You can purchase a daytripper exchange on the train from the guard. Code is I193 if they have any trouble with it, and you will be wanting the £18.20 one. Exchange the ticket at any booking office for the scratchcard.

No problem! The less expensive one is for 1 Adult and 2 bairns, the more expensive one, 2 adults and 4 bairns.
