I often cycle through Uttoxeter and usually have the camera with me. Am I likely to see anything but DMU's on this line? Some freight perhaps?

You may see the odd freight passing through. Not from the area so can't really say sorry! According to Wiki there isn't freight; but of course Wiki can be edited by any Tom, Dick or Harry!

Of course, further down the line at Kidsgrove you'll see 323s and 350s.

There's not usually freight on this line.

From Crewe there are hourly LM 350s from Crewe to Euston running via Stoke.
Also the hourly East Midlands Crewe - Derby which is usually a 153, but can be 158 as well.

Also from Kidsgrove to Stoke there is the hourly Northern rail 323, and twice hourly Virgin 390s, also the XC 220s and 221s.

There is likely to be more freight in the future as gauge clearance work is to take place between Syston Junction and Stoke as part of the Strategic Freight Network.

Presumably this will travel via Sheet Stores and Stenson. Presumably also it will originate from the ECML at Peterborough.

DBS run a train from Warrington to Sinfin via the Derby - Stoke line to transport aviation fuel for the Rolls Royce test beds. I think I read on here that its hauled by a class 67 too.

Quite a few test trains go that way.
