Can anyone confirm exactly what is the scope of works currently being undertaken at Crewe station. I have seen various photos showing bits of the station being done up and the new entrance. This does seem to be being done in a fairly piecemeal fashion. Is there an overall plan of any sort - will at the end of the process the station appear much less dilapidated and appear more welcoming and looked after.

I know Chester was revamped in a similar fashion with lots of smaller schemes all coming into play rather than one overall revamp such as at Man Vic or New St.

I realise this isn't exactly answering your question, but it seems that improvement works to Crewe station have been done on a piecemeal fashion for some time.

For example, the replacing of the glazing in the roof panels [needed even more so since the recent gales].

Perhaps a total makeover of the station has been on hold pending the recent debates re a possible new site to the south of the present one?

Is the roof listed? seems it could do with a redo, the only problem is they would build some hideous "modern" thing.

Hope the southern option is binned the whole advantage of Crewe is having lots and lots of good interchanges.
