Crewe Station

I'm meeting a female friend at the station on sunday 29 never been there before, are there any decant pubs, bars etc near by.

The Crewe Hero is OK. When I used to work for BR in the 80s we always used to go to what is now called the Corner Bar, interesting. Otherwise all Crewe pubs were lacking something

There is a little hotel just over the road from the station entrance (over to the right as you come out) think it's called the Crewe hotel. I've had some grub and a pint in there and it's ok!

I'm afraid the nearest decent pubs are in the town centre - about a mile away. [ Any bus will take you to the bus station, and Wetherspoons "Gaffers Row" is adjacant to it ]

It's a beer shop, but you can sit down inside and drink the bottles you buy - weird ! [ About 1/2 mile straight along Nantwich Road ]

There is a decent Thai restaurant a small stroll away.

Crewe Arms (at least it used to be).

The Crewe Arms can be a bit hit and miss these days as to when they do food and/or open the bar.

There is a McDonalds 3 mins walk away if you wanted a "tea/coffee" drink rather than a "drink" drink.

No that was why I was asking for advice as I don't know crewe.

The Crewe Hero is alright if you want a pint whilst waiting for a connection, but it closes early (about 9.45pm in my experience)

The little hotel outside the station to the right was pretty nice the last time I was there.

Alternatively, there's a pretty ace fish and chip shop in the centre, if you leave the station and turn left instead.

No there isn't ! It moved (to town centre) and then closed down.

Giovannis pizza parlour (2 mins walk) is great but I don't think it opens on Sundays.

I proposed to my partner on a train at Crewe Station. I didn't set out to do it, but we were traveling back to Glasgow from Birmingham on split tickets - standard class from Birmingham to Crewe then 1st class from Crewe to Glasgow. I had been planning to propose for a few weeks and after our (romantic???) trip to Birmingham I decided I was ready to pop the question and decided to wait until our switch to 1st class.

That all makes me sound like a complete geek...
