What is Crewe Station like on a weekday.

Do any freights go through?

Is there a Class 57/3 acting as Thunderbird?

Can you see the avoiders from the station?

Thank You

This might just be me being stupid, but what are the Avoiders (i.e. from what Yard/route-Yard/route?) :D

Don't think you can see the Independant lines from the main station, then again I'm a not a (I hate this word, sorry to use it!) trainspotter, nor do I know what uses them :D

No, you can't see the avoiders from the station - you'll need to walk a short distance down the road to the west of the station; the two travks in a cutting are the avoiders.

If I've copied the Google Maps link right, it's here:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...89153,-2.43609&spn=0.006044,0.021887&t=h&z=16

The curved line just to the west of the station is the avoider; it looks close but because it's in a cutting it's invisible from the station. It's also known as the "rat hole", probably because it dives under the Chester lines.

if you go to the northern end of platform 12 there is a path that leads to the car park, it goes over the footbridge from which you can see the avoiding lines, you also have a view of anything moving to the north of the station, decent spot for wagons as there is a 15mph limit on the line, just pray it doesn't rain as there is no shelter,

Does anybody have a list of the freight trains which actually go through Crewe Station for a weekday?
