What's happened in Crewe tonight all I know is that services are running delayed or being cancelled/diverted due to an operating incident

Problem resolved, delays until 22.00pm. No indication of the problem.

Down to an earth fault on 68010 apparently !

This was a real pain in the bum for mini wijit, Mrs wijit and I. Our timings were already very tight for catching the last bus available to us, this delay added almost twenty flipping quid in a taxi fare.
This had the massive knock on effect that I did not get a curry from the Plaza, therefore got all moody and spilt my hot coffee on myself.
Virgin owe me big time for this.....

Saying there is an "operating incident" tells nothing. I seem to recall British rail were criticised for using the term 30 years ago. Plus Ca Change.

No working it was sat on Gresty Bridge depot at the time. Caused total chaos, train I was working lost 77 mins between Winsford and Crewe.

Some clown of a driver accidentally bumped the GSM-R red button. After all that training, as well..........

The problem was more that despite everything being shut down and reset both on the loco and at Stoke Tech, the GSMR set still couldn't be isolated. Interesting precedent there ! Drivers (I'm not saying for right or wrong) were also refusing to follow directions from the signallers to move regardless of the emergency broadcast compounding the issue. Sounded like a right farce.

If they were prevented from doing so by a rule or regulation I can understand it. Don't know if this is the case, seems like it might be...

What an unfortunate situation though! What are the chances?
