I'm soon to visit Crewe and I heard a visit to the maintenance depot is worth a look. Can anyone please advise the best locations for viewing.

Which one?

Off the top of my head there's:
Crewe IEMD (DB)
Crewe Basford Hall (Freightliner)
Crewe Gresty Road (DRS)
Crewe Aviva Traincare (ex LNWR)
Crewe Diesel (now Locomotive Storage Ltd I think)

...then other locations like the 'Holding Sidings' (GBRf locos sometimes) and the Coal Yard (DRS locos sometimes) where you may see things.

Any in particular you've got your sights set on?

None are that easy to see clearly/in their entirety from public areas from what I know - but there's various spots from supermarket car parks, McDonald's, passing trains, hanging off lampposts ;) etc. where you can see bits of some of the depots.

Where are all those coaches parked up? There's usually a few GBRf locos in front of them. There is usually a 57 in the station bay as well.

you must mean the electric maintenance depot not the diesel depot if you want to see class 90s there will usually be some 90s at the new freightliner depot at basford hall not sure how accessible it is though

Yes - Crewe Electric (on the Chester line) has many stored DB/EWS 90s/92s/60s/67s. It's not easy to see it though and some areas are completely hidden (esp a lot of the 92s). You can see selected locos (incl 90s) from various vantage points round the depot. You can also see a fair few from passing Crewe-Chester trains.

You may also see some Freightliner 90s at Basford Hall south of the station - however again this isn't very viewable from public areas and in general the 90s are either out and about or in the maintenance shed.
