Crewe Hero pub on Crewe station

Will be calling there this week; couple of questions, is it expensive, and does it serve food (hot or cold) and does it have it's own toilets (or toilets on the same platform)? I presume it has a screen showing departures just in case of a platform change. Afraid the reviews on tripadvisor are well out of date!!

Have a look at this recent thread. Not sure if they do food at the moment. Don't know if it has it's own loos either but there are toilets on platform 6 anyway.

It’s not cheap. They have (or did have) a small selection of pizzas, but there’s also an Upper Crust in the same room, for sandwiches etc. Toilets on the same platform, near the stairs. Yes, there is a screen.

Everyone will know the reasons, with food so expensive now, Upper Crust not that cheap anymore I was looking at prices on my way to Maidstone yesterday at London Victoria and the cheapest Baguette was £4.69 rising up to over £5.00. At the Kent Showground at Detling from a catering truck a straight Burger (Cheese extra) was £6.50 and Chips £3.00

Depends on how long you have between trains at Crewe?
There is a plethora of takeaways on Nantwich Road serving just about any type of international food imaginable a few minutes stroll from the main station entrance!

If you have at least 20 minutes change, leave at the main entrance, turn right and walk across the car park to Greggs.

Also near Greggs is a Subway and Starbucks, plus there is also a McDonalds on the other side of the roundabout.

But you can’t see the trains from Subway, Greggs Or McDonalds. I’d stick with Crewe Hero or one of the other station outlets

Indeed. If one just wants a bit of grup while watching the trains, Upper Crust etc are perfectly fine for that sort of thing.

Not bothered about watching them, just want to make sure if there's a platform change I know about it! Train's the 1133 (ish) to Euston; advance...can't miss it!!

By the way, my ticket for the day is Bolton > Crewe (1st ret); Crewe > Euston adv single; Euston > Manchester adv single and then use the Bolton/Crewe ticket to finish. Think it worked out at under £50 with a railcard!

Gormet coffee bar & kitchen on the station doesca tasty breakfast sarnie & good coffee. Plenty of screens in the vicinity too if you need them.
