As I left crewe station last Thursday evening a rather long low loader was causing traffic chaos as it struggled to reverse into the access road to the depot.

It looked like it had come to collect a loco for removal by road, possibly one of the Class 60's.

Anyone know if anything has gone by road from here?

Just out of interest how much is left at Crewe Diesel? Is it still possible to access the depot from the mainline or is it now an island?

From Railway Herald
Pete Waterman has sold his London & North Western Railway Heritage business, based at Crewe Heritage Centre to locomotive owner Jeremy Hosking.

The deal means that its business as usual for the boiler shop and overhaul facility at Crewe, with what are described as "exciting times ahead". Another company owned by Mr Hosking is currently negotiating with DB Schenker Rail (UK) for a long-term lease on Crewe Diesel Depot.

So it will probably be used for locomotive repairs? Assume Riviera Trains will be unaffected in this as they use the Holding Sidings (for stabling locomotives/coaching stock) and not the depot itself.
