Is it just me who feels slightly unhappy about seeing all the rusting assets, including the 60s at Toton, and the 90/92s at Crewe especially with the Electric Spine just round the corner?

To answer the question - I have occasional access to a light two seat aeroplane based at East Midlands Airport, and I have a pilots licence. It's not a good idea to be flying and taking photos at the same time, so I need another pilot along with me if I want take photos. Aircraft are not allowed to decend below 1000' above ground in built up areas, so it's just a case of flying over / around no lower than that a couple of times (no more to avoid annoying the licals with any noise) and shooting some pictures out of or through the window. The airspace above Crewe is not subject to any air traffic control, so that bit is easy - for Toton (on another thread) its not so easy because that depot is inside airspace controlled by East Midlands Airport and they don't want aeroplanes orbiting round for long. I like trying this stuff, but obviously it's expensive so I can't do it often.

Thank you!! It's still an ambition of mine to get into the EMD/DMD one day, before those locos are finally deemed beyond saving. This is the next best thing.
