There is disruption at Liverpool Street this morning due to signalling problems. I'm trying to get to Southend. Myself and other passengers were advised to travel to Shenfield and connect from there, only to find no service immediately available there either. The staff at Shenfield have gone out of their way to keep passengers informed, regularly coming onto the platform to resolve queries and regularly giving live updates on how far the next train was from the station. They were exceptionally helpful.

It has been a rough couple of days on the GEML. 16.00 LST-NRW lost its pantograph at Chelmsford on Tuesday night, causing complete havoc to the service for the rest of the day, then this morning platforms 1-10 out of use at Liverpool St, and two persons hit by trains at Weeley and Althorne this afternoon / evening.

There were extra staff at Shenfield, it helps that some of the metro office staff work there too, but my experience was the same as OP's. The driver of my Metro service from Shenfield made excellent PA announcements, and was thanked by more than one passenger at Stratford.

Unfortunately these were the only bright spots in what has been a miserable time :(. Glad I don't work in the Delay Repay office.

+1. The station staff are lovely at Shenfield. Always get a cheerful good morning from whoever's manning the gate.
