Covid Restrictions Abroad: Updates & Observations

I notice some of the riders and officials in the Tour de France are still wearing masks at the beginning and end of each stage. It seems all a bit pointless now, particularly as all the riders are sans masks passing through the huge crowds of spectators en route.

I think that was maybe a reaction to the number of riders in the Giro who had abandoned because of COVID, including Evenepoel who was leading the GC at the time.

Although the Tour organisers did say that a positive COVID test would not automatically mean having to abandon the Tour.

On Eurostar and in Paris this week. Still a couple (and only a couple) of mask wearers at all points (including St Pancras). They seemed to be people who were going round with terrified looks on their faces at everyone. Well, we are all free to do what we want.

More noticeable in France, and then I picked up on a few when back in Britain, is the failure to remove signage etc from those times. This included Eurostar themselves, with notices saying masks were required when nobody was wearing them. All sorts of sundry arrows on the floor, distance marks, etc remaining at various points, to no effect.
