Coventry/Rugby to Euston (& then Pimlico)

Hi all,

I've just started a new job in London and I hadn't fully appreciated the cost of the rail travel, underground and parking! Ouch!

This one may have been covered off in earlier posts too.

I live in Coventry and I'm prepared to travel from either Coventry/Rugby/Warwick/Warick Parkway

I need to get to Euston and then I take the Victoria line to Pimlico.

Currently, I'm taking the London Midland at 0621 to Euston and then Oystering on the tube. LM is too slow, I want to get home faster!

Time of travel: 6-7am outbound; 4-6pm return.

I would prefer to take VT. Checking the Season Ticket Calculator this states price for £5920 for Coventry to Euston (as long as the train passes through or calls at Northampton). I asked at the ticket office in Coventry today and was advised that the trains for this would be LM for Coventry to Northampton, and VT for Northampton to Euston as the VT doesn't call or stop at Northampton.

I've looked at Rugby taking the LM in the morning, they have a train that has fewer stops and may save me money.

What I'm looking for: speed - 1hr for Cov/Rugby to Euston & cost savings! Prepared to split at a station as long as it fits within the rules.

Sorry to have made this quite complex and appreciate your help in advance.

What time do you need to arrive in / depart from Pimlico?

I have flexi-time working arrangements, so can vary my start and finish times. However I'm planning to arrive at Pimlico between 7.30am and 8am, and then depart between 3.30pm and 5pm.

You have the choice of speed or lower fares

for lowest fares use London Midland for £487.70 per month (If you buy this season ticket do not buy a Rugby to London Terminals ticket but buy a Stafford - London Terminals (London Midland Only) ticket for the same price - this then allows travel to Coventry, Birmingham, Stafford, Nuneaton & Tamworth etc)

Or Virgin from Rugby for £637.90 if you want the speed.

As a compromise between speed and price, you may wish to consider Warwick Parkway - London route Banbury at £587.60 a month. This is valid to Marylebone or Paddington. There are now fast, comfortable trains, some of which are non-stop. For example,

07:15 Warwick Parkway - London Marylebone 08:25

16:30 London Marylebone - Warwick Parkway 17:39
