Could faster trains return to the Argyle Line (Glasgow)?

They are in the May 2020 timetable (which never happened, of course), and one train still skips Dalmarnock. I imagine reinstatement will depend on passenger numbers - and as there were very few in the reverse direction, it might also be a question of how the timetable works best.

If you're talking about Larkhall-Glasgow, it was around 2017 or 2018 I think. I remember taking the Larkhall services and they were fast from Rutherglen to Argyle St.
Dec 2014 was also when the Larkhall trains stopped at Newton and Cambuslang. Was stupid to miss them two though from the beginning. Especially Newton.

The 0803 from Larkhall was full and standing from Blantyre and ran non stop to Argyle St. (Or did it call at Cambuslang?) It was a very popular train because of the limited stops and I miss it because of that. However, we live in a different world now.
The low level lines are effectively a metro service. It was interesting to hear Alex Hynes say that they could be made more of a metro service. He didn’t elaborate on what he meant but I imagine skip-stopping wouldn’t be compatible with that aspiration?
A lot of new housing is being built near Dalmarnock which should hopefully increase demand there. Thousands of flats are planned near Anderston and Exhibition Centre which will boost patronage at those stations.

There has been previous proposals to turn the Argyle Line and / or Cathcart Circle in to a light metro scheme or similar. This would then free up capacity in high level if the metro went on street in the city centre.
I do think it is a good proposal in principle but I struggle to see how it would work turning these lines to light rail.
