Could a 144 farewell railtour run ?

It seems that the pacers are eventually going to go from the Northern area, with the 144's going first (unfortunately).

I wonder if anyone will run a farewell railtour using them ? Whilst I'm not a fan of the 142's, I've certainly come to like the 144's and would be up for a reasonably priced farewell tour on them.

If it was up to me, it should certainly take in the Little North Western, being a regular trip for them. Then perhaps something a bit different, such as a trip up the West Coast main line, taking a pause in the Keswick platform at Penrith. Then perhaps a trip down the S&C, followed by a run to out to Hull.

I wonder if any one else would consider going on such a tour.

I would definitely - as much as I hate them, the 142s in particular are great on scenic routes thanks to the large windows. Perhaps a tour of the scenic routes - one on the East side and one on the West side?

Great idea! That would certainly appeal to me so long as it started/finished at an accessible location.

Manchester to Stockport (reversal) to Stalybridge (via Reddish South) to Huddersfield (reversal) to Sheffield (via Denby Dale) etc....

Perhaps the Whitby branch - I have had a 142 on that on a couple of occasions, but fortunately they were both Northern Spirit ones with decent seats.

You can almost get nostalgic about bouncing around on/off the seat. I once almost came off the seat between Man Vic and Southport, when it was at full pelt.

Seconded. The metropolitan line might be doable, or crossrail before it opens
