Hi guys

I'm traveling on the 1154 from Reading to Worcester tomorrow (17 October). Does anyone happen to know what sort of train it'll be?

The GWR timetable doesn't show an HST or WiFi symbol. Does this imply that the train will be what I rightly or wrongly think of as a Networker Turbo?

Many thanks

Yes, weekend Cotswold Line services are either Turbos or HSTs, and that one is a Turbo. The 180s are back to the depot to be patched up at weekends (though they do occasionally let one out if there's a unit shortage).

Are the 180s that unreliable I know the Grand Central ones have had problems but thought GWR had sorted theirs out?

Just seen 180103 heading south through Kingham. Not sure what its return working from Paddington will be but you might be able to get it..,

No, they're only used on weekdays so that enough turbos are available for Thames Valley services.
Obviously at weekend there is more stock available so they are not needed

Unlikely to be used on a return working. Looks like Old Oak Common was short of an HST this morning for the 0512 to Great Malvern/08.43 to Paddington so the 180 got sent out instead.

I suppose if they are still struggling for HSTs/send them to Cardiff for the rugby, a 180 might appear on one of the late afternoon HST jobs but I'm not sure they are allowed to go to Hereford these days, as I can't recall any gauging run taking place since 2012, and the 17.11 to Worcester would be rather cosy with only five coaches.

0822 Paddington-Hereford and 1213 return have been a 180 occasionally on Saturdays this year.

Needless to say, not a dicky-bird about any stock change on Journeycheck but then it's only the Cotswold Line at the weekend so people are presumably just meant to be grateful it's not a Turbo... No doubt a very cosy journey as a result, at least as far as Oxford.

And I'm sure the rugby union fans will still be complaining there aren't enough/fast enough/big enough trains for them between London and Cardiff...

Thanks but unfortunately the train I got was a Turbo.

16.28 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington today is a 180 and I'm sitting on it now. A more pleasant experience than the booked HST, at least in this part of the journey, because there are no seat reservations out. ;)
