Hi there

Ive booked a return from Preston to Edinburgh on Saturday 18th March, valid on TPE only, returning same day

It cost £29.90, but Im thinking of going Friday teatime instead - How much would it cost to amend? Im happy to still go TPE.

Cheers
Chris

£25.10

£10 amendment fee plus the difference in fare between what you've paid (£29.90) and the Off Peak Return (£45) (valid to return within one month).

Probably cheaper to buy a new advance northbound if you really want to go up a day early.

Changing two Advance Single tickets into one Off-Peak Return incurs two admin fees (as described in the 'Advance Tickets FAQs' document).

Ah, if it's an off-peak ticket then it would be a £10 refund fee and a new ticket, which wouldn't have any extra fare to pay unless the op wanted to use a different train company.

Not according to the "when not to charge an admin fee" section of the internal NRE site
Care to provide details? For as long as I can remember there has always been an admin fee for refunding flexible tickets, whether or not a rebooking for a different date is subsequently made or not.
